9-year-old dead following shooting on Floyd Road in Columbus, police say

A 9-year-old is dead following a shooting Sunday in Columbus, according to police.

The Columbus Police Department said they responded at 8:36 p.m. Sunday to a shooting in the 1300 block of Floyd Road.

Responding officers discovered the child suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Lakeith Livingston, who was pronounced dead at 9:03 p.m. in a local hospital, police said.

The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the incident, according to the news release.
