Police originally reported they responded Dec. 19 at 3:35 p.m. to an address in the 100 block of Youngs Mill Road in reference to a kidnapping in progress.

The LPD’s investigation at the time determined the father had gotten into an argument with Castillo that morning atthe Motel 6 at 1513 Lafayette Parkway after she decided to end the relationship, according to a news release at the time.

That news release stated, during the argument, Castillo said she would call 911. The father snatched her phone from her hand and left the motel with her phone, according to that news release.

After contacting a family member with a bystander’s phone, Castillo went to LaGrange Mall, where the father followed her and started a subsequent argument, police originally reported.

Officers were dispatched to the mall, but the father left before their arrival, the news release at the time stated.

Police originally said Castillo went to an address in the 100 block of Youngs Mill Road. While removing her 3-month-old son from the vehicle, the father arrived at the address, snatched the child from Castillo’s hands and fled the scene with the child, according to that news release.

The father was located in another vehicle and taken into custody, and the child was safely returned to Castillo, police originally reported.

Police now say, through further investigation, it was discovered these crimes didn’t occur as reported by the victim.
