Two female teenagers are dead following a shooting on Christmas Eve in Lee County, and a male teen has been arrested and charged with capital murder, according to officials.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release they received a 911 call around 3:48 p.m. CST reporting gunfire in the area of Lee Road 2113 and U.S. 29 North in the Beulah Community of northeast Lee County.

Responding deputies were directed to a residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 2113, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office says deputies encountered an 18-year-old male and discovered two unresponsive females (ages 18 and 19).

The females suffered what appeared to be gunshot wounds, the news release says.

Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton told the Ledger-Enquirer the victims are Madison Daly, 18, and Kayden Lynch, 19, both of Beulah. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Sexton said.

Sexton said the victims will be transported to ADFS (Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences) Montgomery Medical for postmortem examination.

The two victims were unrelated, according to the LCSO, but both had the residence where the shooting took place listed on their driver’s licenses.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones told the Ledger-Enquirer the 18-year-old male suspect is Jalen Dashawn Holmes.

An investigation revealed the male (Holmes) reportedly had assaulted his mother and had taken a handgun from the mother’s residence, the news release says. The mother lived next door to the residence where the victims were found, according to the LCSO.

Evidence indicates he (Holmes) left his mother’s residence after assaulting her and went next-door to the residence where the victims were found, the news release says.

Holmes was arrested and is charged with two counts of capital murder, two counts of third-degree domestic violence and one count of attempted murder, Jones said.

Jones said additional charges may be forthcoming. The investigation is ongoing, according to the news release.

The LCSO asks anyone with information about this case to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 334-737-7155 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP(7867).
