11-year-old arrested in Calvary Christian School threat investigation, Columbus police say
An 11-year-old has been arrested following a Columbus Police Department investigation regarding a potential threat received by a Calvary Christian School student, CPD announced Monday.
CPD said they responded at 8:03 p.m. Thursday to a report of a school threat.
Police said a Calvary Christian School student received a text message referencing a potential threat.
The child informed their parent, who then contacted school staff , which prompted police involvement, police said.
An 11-year-old suspect was identified and admitted to sending the message on Monday, according to police.
The juvenile provided no motive, police said.
Police said the suspect was taken to Terrell County Regional Youth Detention Center.
The child is scheduled for a juvenile court hearing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
“The school administration has worked closely with law enforcement throughout the investigation and has decided to reopen the school following the resolution of this case,” CPD stated said in a news release.
