Stabbing at Columbus liquor store results in arrest and murder charge, police say

A man is dead after being stabbed at a liquor store in Columbus, the Columbus Police Department announced Tuesday.

Police said officers responded at 7:23 p.m. to Kick N Chicken, 5120 Warm Springs Road, in regards to a stabbing.

Responding officers found Quadarius Reynolds, 28, suffering from a stab wound, according to a news release.

Police said preliminary information indicates Reynolds and Kick N Chicken employee, James Applewhite, 24, were in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical altercation.

Applewhite reportedly grabbed a knife during the incident and stabbed Reynolds, police said.

Reynolds was found at a nearby business after leaving the store, according to police.

Police said Applewhite has been arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

Applewhite is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 8 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
