9 gang members arrested on 96 charges as Columbus special ops police serve search warrant
Nine documented gang members were arrested after the Columbus Police Department served a search warrant Sunday, CPD announced Friday.
CPD’s Special Operations Unit executed the search warrant on a residence in the 7000 block of Sorrel Court, the news release says.
Police said the operation led to the seizure of $1,113 in currency, over 3.5 pounds of marijuana (with an estimated street value of $16,265) and 10 firearms ( two reported stolen).
Police said the nine arrested gang members face a total of 96 charges:
- Tyquis Brown, 19, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Clifford Davis, 21, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Marquis Davis, 19, was charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Tristian Davis, 20, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Braxton Deriso, 20, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Philip Mcclinton, 21, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction, possession of drug-related objects and a warrant (felony violation of probation).
- Antonio Shaw, 22, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- Jarquiz Williams, 21, was charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction and possession of drug-related objects.
- A 17-year-old suspect also was arrested and charged with six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, two counts of theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a pistol while being under 18 years of age and a warrant (pointing a pistol at another).
“The Columbus Police Department remains committed to dismantling criminal organizations and ensuring the safety of the community,” the news release says. “Anyone with information regarding gang activity is urged to call 911.”
