Man dies over 10 months after being shot in Columbus, Muscogee coroner says

A man shot last year in Columbus has died over 10 months after being shot, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan said Braxton Hicks, 27, was shot on May 17, 2024, in the 2700 block of 10th Avenue while being robbed.

Braxton was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional on May 17, 2024, before being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta the following day, according to Bryan.

Bryan said Braxton was on a ventilator in the ICU. Braxton was pronounced dead at 8:22 a.m. Thursday.

Bryan said an autopsy will be performed on Braxton’s body.

Columbus Police Department public information officer Brittany Santiago told the Ledger-Enquirer no arrests have been made in the case.
