One person is dead after a shooting Wednesday in Columbus, according to a post on the Columbus Police Department’s X page.

The shooting took place in the 5700 block of Teresa Street, according to the post. The post says one person was injured, but an update provided by CPD in the comment section stated that the person had died.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Deangelo McCarter, 39. Bryan said McCarter was pronounced dead at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday.

The post says CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
