One dead after home invasion at Columbus apartment complex, coroner says

One person is dead after a home invasion at a Columbus apartment complex, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan said Rownee Ortiz-Ocasio, 24, died Sunday at Azalea Ridge Apartments in the 1400 block of Boxwood Boulevard.

Bryan confirmed to the Ledger-Enquirer that Ortiz-Ocasio was shot and is believed to be the person who was committing the home invasion.

The Columbus Police Department said its Violent Crimes Unit is conducting a death investigation, according to a post on the department’s X page.
