Video shows Columbus police chase and arrest ‘reckless stunt driver.’ Watch here

The Columbus Police Department on Tuesday released body camera video of last month’s foot chase and arrest of a suspect police described as a “reckless stunt driver” who tried to outrun officers.

Video of the incident posted on CPD’s X account and YouTube channel shows a man CPD identified as Antoine Wyatt, 21, attempting to flee the St. Mary’s Shopping Center — first by car and then by foot — after backing into a police cruiser.

Body camera footage shows officers chasing Wyatt through the shopping center’s parking lot and into nearby woods. Police captured and arrested Wyatt as he emerged into an adjacent field.

Wyatt faces six criminal charges:

  • Reckless stunt driving
  • Obstruction
  • Fleeing and eluding
  • Interference with government property
  • Reckless driving
  • Laying drag.

The video includes footage from a police car’s dashcam showing someone taking a bag out of Wyatt’s car and another person driving away in it. Police have not identified them. CPD is urges anyone who recognizes them to call 706-225-3400 or email cpdga@columbusga.org. Tips can remain anonymous.
