A vehicle chase Sunday night in Columbus involving Georgia State Patrol and an SUV ended after the chased vehicle collided with two other vehicles, the Georgia State Patrol told the Ledger-Enquirer.

An email from GSP said a state trooper conducted a traffic stop on a GMC Yukon for a defective taillight on Manchester Expressway near Armour Road.

GSP said the Yukon initially stopped but then fled the scene, causing a pursuit to begin.

The driver of the Yukon failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and State Route 1, where the vehicle was struck by a vehicle after entering the intersection, according to GSP.

GSP said the Yukon continued across the roadway and struck an occupied vehicle in a parking lot.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck in the intersection was taken to the hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, according to GSP.

Drug-related objects, suspected cocaine, suspected crack cocaine, suspected ecstasy pills, a firearm and suspected marijuana were found during a search of the vehicle, according to GSP.

GSP said the driver of the Yukon showed signs of impairment.
