Update: Police capture suspect accused of assaulting woman with box cutter

Update: Gabrielle Dionne Thomas, 23, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault Monday, Columbus Police said in a report.

She was booked into Muscogee County Jail and later released on a $10,000 bond, according to an official.

Original Story: A 25-year-old Columbus woman told authorities that she was attacked with a box cutter late Thursday in her Wilson Homes apartment, according to a police report.

She was carried to Columbus Midtown Medical Center in an ambulance. She's in good condition after being treated for lacerations on her arm, neck and head, police added. 

Columbus Police said they were called to 3400 Eighth Avenue apartment complex at 11:15 p.m. in reference to a stabbing.

The victim reported that a black woman named Gabrielle Thomas assaulted her with a box cutter inside of her residence around 11 p.m. No additional details concerning the reported aggravated assault were immediately released.

Authorities said Thomas has a date of birth of Dec. 31, 1991 and lives in the 1300 block of Kings Mountain Road.

No one has been arrested in connection to this incident, according to a report made Thursday. The case is pending further investigation.
