The Muscogee County School District announced Monday the theft of a school bus during the weekend.

The news release says MCSD is aware of the theft of a “district vehicle” Sunday. Columbus Police Department public information officer Brittany Santiago confirmed to the Ledger-Enquirer that the vehicle is a school bus.

Santiago said a 14-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident. MCSD said the suspect is not an MCSD student.

MCSD said CPD is handling the case.

“In partnership with CPD, MCSD Police will be charging the individual with Theft By Taking (motor vehicle),” the news release says.
