Muscogee coroner identifies man pronounced dead at abandoned Columbus warehouse

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has released the identity of a man pronounced dead at an abandoned warehouse in Columbus.

Bryan said 66-year-old Edwin Grier was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday at the scene in the 3100 block of Macon Road. Grier suffered blunt-force trauma to the head, according to Bryan.

An autopsy will be performed, Bryan said.

The Columbus Police Department said they responded at 4:46 p.m. Monday to the 3100 block of Macon Road in reference to a person down. Police said responding officers found Grier unresponsive and bleeding from the head.

EMS responded and could not resuscitate him, according to police.

CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the case, according to the news release.
