One dead after shooting at foundry in north Columbus, coroner says

One man is dead after a shooting at a foundry in north Columbus, according to officials.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said the altercation occurred at the Aludyne foundry on Northside Industrial Boulevard. Brittany Santiago, public information officer for the Columbus Police Department, said the incident happened Wednesday morning. The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating, according to a post on X from Columbus police.

Bryan said the victim was brought to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

Bryan identified the victim as 54-year-old Lawrence Mitchell Perry. Bryan said Perry was shot by another person and the case is still being investigated.

Bryan said the coroner’s office got the call from the hospital at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday.
