Teen dies in downtown Columbus shooting. Police seek help in catching killer

A shooting Friday night in downtown Columbus has left a teenager dead.

Police officers responded at approximately 11 p.m. to a call about a shooting in the 1000 block of Bay Avenue, where they found a female victim — later identified as Kalielah Davis, 18 — suffering from a gunshot wound., the Columbus Police Department announced in a news release.

Davis was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional. Deputy Muscogee County Coroner Dustin Harrelson pronounced her dead in the hospital at 11:26 p.m., according to CPD.

Coroner Buddy Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer in a text message that Davis was shot in the head.
