Columbus shooting leaves mother and son injured. Husband wanted as suspect, police say

A suspect is wanted on charges of drive-by shooting and two counts of aggravated assault after his wife and child were injured in a shooting Monday, the Columbus Police Department announced Tuesday.

Police said they’re looking for Jontay Reynolds, 28, after his 24-year-old wife and their 7-year-old son were shot.

Police said they responded around 6:43 p.m. to the 1800 block of Susan Lane in reference to shots fired. When they arrived, officers found several shell casings in the road but no victims, according to police.

Police said a separate 911 call was received shortly after, reporting two gunshot victims who were at CPD’s east precinct. The woman and her son were taken to a local hospital, police said in a news release.

Police said the child had minor injuries, and the woman was listed in critical condition.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case or Reynold’s whereabouts to call 911 or Cpl. Mary-Macy Ruiz at 706-225-4379.
