1 person dead and another wounded in shooting at Phenix City apartment complex

One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting at an apartment complex Monday night in Phenix City, according to authorities.

The Phenix City Police Department said they responded around 9:40 p.m. Monday to a call about shots being fired at Brookwood Apartments on College Drive.

Officers found two people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the news release.

Police said LeNorris Boyd Jr., 33, of Dothan, Alabama, was pronounced dead at the scene. Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. said the time of death was 10:30 p.m.

A 31-year-old female victim was taken to a Columbus hospital, police said. Police and the coroner’s office provided conflicting information on whether the victim’s injuries were life-threatening.

The PCPD Criminal Investigations Division is investigating, and a person of interest has been identified, according to the news release.
