Columbus man dead after shooting on Brookstone Boulevard, coroner says

One man is dead following a Monday shooting in a possible Columbus home invasion, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan said the shooting occurred in the 6300 block of Brookstone Boulevard. Bryan identified the victim as 65-year-old Norman Lane,of Columbus.

Lane was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m., according to Bryan.

Bryan said Lane was shot an undetermined amount of times with what appeared to be a shotgun. Lane was found with a handgun next to him, according to Bryan.

A murder investigation is underway, according to a post on the Columbus Police Department’s X page.
