Man arrested, charged with murder in 2024 shooting death of woman in Columbus

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the August 2024 death of a woman at a Columbus apartment complex, the Columbus Police Department announced Friday.

Police said Marques Lattimore, 22, was arrested in connection with the death of Jabreia Burston. Lattimore is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to police.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 27, 2024, at Grove Park Apartments, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

Police said Burston was shot multiple times and was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where she died the afternoon of Aug. 28, 2024.

Lattimore appeared in Columbus Recorder’s Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to police. Lattimore was denied bond and the case was bound over to Superior Court, police said.

Lattimore was out on bond for home invasion and armed robbery charges from a separate case when he was arrested, according to the news release.
