Three shootings, a stabbing and a dog bite all reported over weekend in Columbus

Three shootings, a stabbing and a dog bite were all reported over the weekend in Columbus, according to posts from the Columbus Police Department’s X page.

A post Saturday from CPD’s X page says officers responded the previous night to the 3000 block of Sixth Avenue in reference to a drive-by shooting. One person was injured, and no arrest had been made, according to the post.

Another post says officers responded Saturday morning to an incident in the 600 block of 44th Street where two people were taken to the hospital. One person suffered a gunshot wound, while another had injuries from a dog bite, according to the post.

The post says animal control also responded to the scene.

A different post from CPD Saturday says officers responded to the 400 block of Mellon Street in reference to a person with a gunshot wound.

The post says the person was expected to be OK, and investigators were working to determine where the shooting happened. No arrests had been made at the time of the post.

A post Sunday from CPD’s X page says officers responded Saturday evening to the 4800 block of Wellborn Drive in reference to a stabbing. The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody, according to the post.

CPD public information officer Brittany Santiago identified the suspect as Jessica Willis, 40.

To CPD’s knowledge, Santiago said, none of the incidents were connected.
