Approximately 29 dead dogs found piled in Lee County yard. 3 people arrested

Three people have been arrested in Lee County on animal cruelty charges after about 29 dead dogs were found in the backyard of a residence, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The LCSO received a phone call around 10:45 a.m. CST Monday from a concerned citizen regarding possible animal cruelty in the 8100 block of Lee Road 146 in the Beauregard community, according to the news release.

Responding LCSO deputies and investigators found around 29 dead dogs, ranging from puppies to adult dogs, placed in plastic bags and piled in the backyard of the residence, according to the news release.

The LCSO said investigators located around 24 additional dogs in the residence that were alive but appeared to be emaciated. Lee County Animal Control took possession of the live animals, the LCSO said.

The news release says Curtis Dewayne Haralson, 63, Patricia Ann Sims, 54 and Tiffany Ann Sims, 27, were taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail. All three resided at the residence, according to the news release.

“The investigation is ongoing at this time and will more than likely result in felony charges for all three individuals,” the news release says.

The LCSO is asking anyone with information on the case to call them at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).
