Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office seized over $7 million in drugs in 2025, report says
The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office seized over $7 million in drugs in 2025, according to an annual report from the sheriff’s office.
In 2025, the sheriff’s office also recorded 859 felony arrests, 4,287 warrants served, 175 firearms seized and 8,163 sex offenders checked, according to the report.
In 2024, the agency was part of Operation Sweet Silence that led to the seizure of over $279 million in drugs. This led to the MCSO seizing over $286 million in drugs in 2024. The sheriff’s office seized over $7 million in other drug busts throughout 2024.
In 2024, the agency also had 1,648 felony arrests, served 5,526 warrants and seized 467 firearms, according to their 2024 report.
“I think the agency has done a yeoman’s job in us working to try to keep our county safe,” Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman told the Ledger-Enquirer.
MCSO’s Collaborative Intelligence Group contributed over $4.4 million in drugs seized to the overall total, according to the report.
The report says CIG seized 678.3 pounds of marijuana, 21.5 pounds of cocaine, 6.7 pounds of mushrooms, 294.1 grams of fentanyl, 54 grams of heroin, 2,336 Xanax pills, 318 Oxycodone pills, 200 mushroom bars, 2,029 THC cartridges and 502 amphetamine pills.
The MCSO drug unit seized over $2.6 million in narcotics. The seizures included 42.15 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.08 pounds of heroin/fentanyl, 1.09 pounds of crack/cocaine, 64.52 pounds of marijuana, 7.57 pounds of pills/edibles and 7.96 pounds of other narcotics.
Countryman attributed the higher dollar value of drugs seized by CIG to them working long-term cases, which may yield larger results.
“It doesn’t mean that the special operations isn’t doing what they’re supposed to do,” he said. “They both do search warrants on a regular basis. They both make pretty good cases. But on the intel side, on the collaborative side, you will see them collaborating with other state agencies, other federal agencies.”
Focuses for the sheriff’s office
When asked whether he expects other big drug busts coming like Operation Sweet Silence, Countryman said, “Absolutely. Our investigators, they never stop working.” He said investigators can work 12-16 hours per day when investigating a case.
Countryman stressed the 1,544 guns the MCSO has seized over a five-year period.
“That’s a lot of guns to be taken out of the hands of individuals that ought not to have them,” he said.
One thing the sheriff’s office has been pushing is cartel movement in Muscogee County, according to Countryman.
“We can’t talk about all of the cases that involve cartel movement, but I can tell you this: that we have knocked off, through HSI and ICE, some pretty bad individuals that ought not be in Muscogee County,” he said. “Those are the individuals that we want to pluck out of our community, because these individuals were very, very dangerous individuals.”
The MCSO has doubled their special-response team, which deals with high-risk warrants, according to Countryman. He said the ultimate goal for the sheriff’s office is a “safer Muscogee County.”
