Verdict delivered in trial of woman charged with malice murder in Harris County
A woman was found not guilty of all charges Wednesday in connection with the death of a man in Harris County in June, according to court documents.
Court documents show Kristina Hodge, 32, was found not guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the June 16 death of Daniel McCourt Jr.
Harris County E-911 received a call about a person being shot on Green Ridge Road in Cataula, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said. Responding deputies found McCourt dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the HCSO.
The case was prosecuted by Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Wesley Lambertus, according to court documents. The defense attorney was William Kendrick. The case was presided over by Judge Gil McBride.
“While we are disappointed in the outcome, we respect the jury’s decision,” Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Don Kelly told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email. “I know that our team worked hard to put on the best possible presentation of the evidence and the law in a difficult case.”
The L-E didn’t reach Kendrick for comment before publication.
