Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrests Buena Vista woman charged with murder
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday the arrest of a Buena Vista woman on criminal charges including malice murder in connection with the January death of a Buena Vista man.
The GBI said Amanda Jackson, 45, was arrested and charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes in connection with the death of Phillip Jackson, 58.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic violence call Jan. 31 involving Phillip and Amanda Jackson at a home on Georgia Highway 41 in Buena Vista, according to the GBI.
Deputies found Phillip Jackson with a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to the news release. The GBI said Phillip Jackson was taken to a hospital, where he died Feb. 7.
The GBI said Amanda Jackson was initially charged Feb. 2 with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. The malice murder and felony murder charges were added Monday following Phillip Jackson’s death.
In response to the Ledger-Enquirer asking how Amanda Jackson and Phillip Jackson were related, GBI public affairs specialist Jade Hensel said in an email Thursday, “Everything we can share at this time can be found in our news release.”
The investigation continues, the GBI said. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Americus at 229-931-2439 or the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Buena Vista at 229-649-3841.
