Late night shooting on Victory Drive leaves one man dead, officials say

A shooting late Thursday on Victory Drive in Columbus left one person dead, according to officials.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 3400 block of Victory Drive, according to a post Friday on the Columbus Police Department’s X page.

CPD public information officer Brittany Santiago told the Ledger-Enquirer officers responded to the call around 11:50 p.m. Thursday.

A man was taken to a local hospital where he died, according to the X post.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Calvin Mitchell, 36.

Bryan said Mitchell died at 12:26 a.m. Friday after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Santiago said no arrests have been made.
