Columbus Spring Fling turns out not so fun for person wanted on felony warrants

The Spring Fling at the Columbus Civic Center wasn’t all fun and games for a certain person at this annual carnival Wednesday.

Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office deputies providing security at the Spring Fling arrested Zaymere Jones on outstanding felony warrants for three counts of aggravated assault, felony drive-by shooting and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the MCSO announced on its Facebook page,

The MCSO received a tip from the Columbus Police Department that Jones “was possibly in attendance” at the Spring Fling and “conducted a thorough search of the area and located the subject,” the post says.

Jones was arrested and taken to the Muscogee County Jail without incident, according to the MCSO.

The MCSO called this cooperation with CPD an example of “working together, accomplishing great things.”

Some MCSO Facebook followers expressed their appreciation:

  • Shantrice Murphy wrote, “Great work! Thank you!”
  • Cedric Holton wrote, “Awesome job!”
