Columbus Police Department investigating death of 24-year-old woman

A death investigation is underway after a woman was pronounced dead Saturday at a Columbus apartment complex, according to officials.

A post from the Columbus Police Department’s X page says CPD is investigating a death at Wilson Homes in the 3400 block of Eighth Avenue.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Maxine Hightower, 24. Hightower was pronounced dead at the residence at 1:02 p.m. Saturday, according to Bryan.

Bryan said Hightower’s body will be sent for an autopsy.

The CPD Violent Crimes unit is investigating the incident, according to the post.
