One dead, two injured in shooting at Benning Hills neighborhood in Columbus

A shooting Saturday in a Columbus neighborhood left one person dead and two others injured, according to officials.

The Columbus Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting in the Benning Hills neighborhood, according to a post on the department’s X account.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as JaQuaivious Jordan, 23.

Bryan said the shooting took place around 12:45 p.m. Saturday on Little Drive. Jordan was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. on the scene, according to Bryan.
