Update: All charges against Steve Spann, the man accused of kidnapping and abusing a woman, were dismissed this morning in Recorder's Court.

The victim didn't appear in Recorder's Court, so police dropped the kidnapping, aggravated sexual battery and battery charges for lack of prosectution.

Original Story: A 46-year-old Phenix City man was jailed early Sunday after he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman at a Columbus Inn.

Steven Spann was arrested on Fourth Street 1:20 a.m. Sunday in connection to the violent incident, police said. He was booked into Muscogee County Jail on kidnapping, aggravated sexual battery and battery charges, according to an arrest report.

The woman is good condition after being treated at Midtown Medical Center for a dislocated hip, authorities stated.

According to the victim, Spann took her to the Columbus Inn at Aug. 17 and forced her to stay there with him. He physically and sexually abused her numerous times at the 3170 Victory Drive hotel, she reported to police.

He then drove her around Columbus and Phenix City against her will, she added.

Spann is set to appear in Recorder's Court Tuesday at 9 a.m.
