Update: Charge dropped against woman accused of pimping

Charges against Sparkle Sawyer were dropped on April 22, 2016.
Due to lack of prosecution, Judge Michael Cielinski dismissed the pimping charge against Chawntey Annette Hunter.
Tila Lasha Grady and Sparkle Shavonne Sawyer, both charged with prostitution, were released from Muscogee County Jail on $250 bonds prior to today’s 9 a.m. preliminary hearing. Their cases were bound over to State Court.
LaPorsha Genae Smith pleaded not guilty to prostitution before waiving her hearing over to State Court. She was ordered held in Muscogee County Jail under a $500 bond.
Original Story: Three women accused of prostitution and one woman accused of pimping were arrested Saturday night at a Victory Drive hotel, according to arrest reports.
LaPorsha Genae Smith, Tila Lasha Grady and Sparkle Shavonne Sawyer were charged with prostitution. Chawntey Annette Hunter, 21, of Columbus was charged with pimping after police determined that she was “pimping” a woman. They were all transported to Muscogee County Jail.
Police said Smith of Columbus, Grady of Opelika and Sawyer, who didn’t give an address, agreed to have sex with undercover cops in exchange for money.
Smith, 20, was allegedly willing to have sex for $70. Grady, 26, allegedly agreed to sexual favors in exchange for $120. Sawyer, 33, allegedly agreed to perform oral sex for $80, the report states.
Authorities said all four women were taken into custody at the hotel Saturday between 6:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m.
They are all set for a preliminary hearing 9 a.m. today in Recorder’s Court.
