A juvenile has been linked to the car theft that happened late Thursday at a Columbus gas station, according to a police report.

The underage suspect was arrested and charged with the auto theft shortly after he allegedly stole a 2008 Pontiac Solstice from the Jeff's Fine Foods II gas station at 2103 South Lumpkin Road.

Columbus Police said they were called to the gas station around 10:22 p.m. Thursday to investigate the 10:08 p.m. incident.

While speaking with the 21-year-old car owner on the scene, authorities learned that the $16,000 convertible was unlocked with the keys in the ignition at the time of the theft, according to a police report.

Officers said they recovered the coupe at an undisclosed location later that night at 11:45 p.m.
