A Columbus woman was arrested late Thursday in her Hamilton Road apartment after allegedly cutting a man with butcher knife, according to an arrest report.

Columbus Police said the victim was treated at Columbus Midtown Medical Center for a laceration on his left rear side, near his left oblique. He has since been released.

Ayama Noni Gibbs, who was identified as the assailant, was taken into custody 10 p.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of Hamilton Road. At the time, she had lacerations on the middle and index fingers of her left hand, police said.

She was treated at the hospital before being booked into Muscogee County Jail on an aggravated assault charge.

Officials said Gibbs and the victim were arguing when she picked up a butcher knife, threatened to cut him and then attacked him.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Columbus Recorder's Court.
