Columbus Police have issued a BOLO alert for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Freddie Windell Williams, 60, is a convicted felon who was last seen between 9 and 11 a.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of Rigdon Park. He may be hiding out on the Riverwalk or within the homeless community, authorities said.

The suspect is about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds, according to the BOLO alert.

"It is unknown if he is armed but he should be considered extremely dangerous," police said.

Authorities said Williams may be responsible for several crimes against a juvenile.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Williams has served two stints in prison:

One sentence was for voluntary manslaughter committed Dec. 12, 1994, for which he served from Jan. 5, 1996, to Dec. 2, 2000.

The other was for the sale and distribution of cocaine on May 3, 2002, for which he was imprisoned from Oct. 31, 2002, until Jan. 31, 2006.

Anyone who comes into contact with anyone matching the above description is encouraged to contact the Bureau of Investigative Services at 706-653-3400 or Detective Amanda Hogan at 706-225-4278.
