Columbus woman pleads not guilty to prostitution

A 30-year-old woman pleaded not guilty in Columbus Recorder's Court this morning to a prostitution charge alleging that she performed sexual acts in exchange for $30.

Zanta Michelle Walton of Columbus waived her preliminary hearing to State Court. She was ordered to return to Muscogee County Jail under a $250 bond.

Columbus Police said they were called to the 3700 block of Victory Drive on Jan. 21 in reference to an assault.

Responding officers said they officers said they were investigating the reported incident when Walton admitted to performing sexual acts in exchange for $30. That incident was reported to have happened on Esquiline Drive earlier that day at 2:45 a.m.

At 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Walton was arrested on an outstanding warrant in her Cusseta Road home.
