Auburn man charged with possessing child pornography

A 22-year-old Auburn man is accused of possessing child pornography after an investigation by the by Auburn, Ala., police.

 Phillip D.  Brantley was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography Thursday and transported to the Lee County Jail. Bond was set at $50,000.

An investigation was launched by Auburn police after it received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. After Brantley was developed as a suspect, authorities retrieved numerous images of child pornography from electronic devices belonging to him. Five images were confirmed to be victims not from the Auburn area.

Brantley, who appeared in Municipal Court on an unrelated charge,  was taken into custody at the Auburn Police Division building.

More charges are possible as the investigation  continues.

Auburn police were assisted by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency during the investigation.
