A Columbus woman was jailed Friday afternoon after police found her three children in an Eagles Trace apartment with "trash and bugs in every room," according to an arrest report.

Crystal Grace Clark, 26, was taken into custody at 3:28 p.m. Friday in the 2001 Torch Hill Road apartment she shares with her two sons and daughter, whose ages range from 2 to 4. The mother was booked into the Muscogee County Jail under bonds totaling $7,000.

Columbus Police said they were called to the residence around 1:20 p.m. Friday after someone reported that the kids were playing in the street unsupervised.

Officials arrived on the scene, where they initially had trouble getting anyone to open the door to the residence despite hearing children inside. After several knocks, a child welcomed the officers inside, police stated.

Authorities said they found Clark naked on a twin mattress and the kids sitting in a pile of trash in front of the television. The 2-year-old boy was only wearing a shirt, officials noted.

"Officers observed trash and bugs in every room of the apartment," police said in the report. "Officer did not observe any emotions from the suspect."

Clark's preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Columbus Recorder's Court.
