Here is today's earlier report:
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office launched a homicide investigation this morning after finding a woman dead at an Opelika home at Lee Road 622, according to a press release from Lee County Coroner Bill Harris.
Harris said he pronounced Sandra Revells, the 57-year-old victim, dead at the scene at 10 a.m. this morning. Her body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences medical examiner’s office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, the coroner added.
According to the release, deputies were called to the scene around 9 a.m. this morning after someone reported an unresponsive woman at the residence. Upon arrival, officials found Revells, who appeared to have “died from unnatural means,” Harris said.
Deputies are following several leads and no further details are being released at this time, the coroner said in the press release. ADFS is assisting in the investigation.
