Body found in Chattahoochee River

Authorities have identified the 65-year-old man found dead Sunday afternoon in the Chattahoochee River.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Larry Lynch was found face down in the river and pronounced dead at 6 p.m.

Bryan said he got a call around 5:30 p.m. about a body in the river behind a building at 1807 First Avenue.

He said Lynch was wearing a medical band from Midtown Medical Center. He was also wearing a T-shirt and gym pants.

The cause of death is still unknown.

The body will be sent to Atlanta on Monday for an autopsy.

The case remains under investigation by Columbus police.
