Police: Man robbed, attacked by two men on Fifth Avenue

A man was robbed and beaten by two men Thursday night on Fifth Avenue near the local Shell gas station, according to Columbus Police report.

The victim was punched in the face by both men but refused medical treatment following the 8:45 p.m. incident.

An officer responded around 8:57 p.m. Thursday to the Shell gas station at 1500 Veterans Parkway, where he spoke with the victim.

He told the officer that he was walking north on Fifth Avenue, behind the gas station, when two men attempted to rob him. He said he was able to get away from them, but they caught up with him at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 16th Street.

Both men punched him in the face and stole his wallet, which contained his driver’s license and two Wells Fargo bank cards, according to the police report.

The officer said he searched the area for possible suspects but wasn’t able to locate any “due to lack of information.”
