Man accused of firing gun from moving vehicle

A Columbus man was taken into custody early Thursday after a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol saw someone firing a pistol from the vehicle on Armour Road.

Elias Torres, 22, was charged with discharging a firearm and discharging a firearm near a street around 2:49 a.m.. on Armour Road at Manchester Expressway. He was released from the Muscogee County Jail after posting bonds totaling $500.

The trooper said Torres fired a pistol from a moving vehicle while it was traveling on Armour Road near 52nd Street. When the vehicle was stopped at Manchester Expressway, the trooper said Torres was visibly under the influence of alcohol.

No injuries were reported in connection with the gunfire.
