Cyclist struck by vehicle in hit-and-run wreck on Marion Street
A 20-year-old male cyclist was admitted to the Columbus Midtown Medical Center Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and wreck in the 2200 block of Marion Street, according to a Columbus police report.
Authorities said the cyclist was left with a broken jaw that was wired shut at the hospital, where he is expected to remain for a total of three days.
Columbus Police said they found the cyclist lying in the middle of the road with his pink and gray Magna mountain bike lying next to him when they responded to the scene of the 8:20 p.m. collision.
Police spoke to a female witness who stated that she was driving westbound on Marion Street when she saw a white late model midsize vehicle directly in front of her “swerve irately and strike” the cyclist. The automobile had “aftermarket rims,” she noted.
She said a slim black man dressed in all white left the vehicle from the passenger side and walked toward the cyclist before hastily returning to the vehicle. The driver then continued onto Marion Street and turned south onto Britt Avenue.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
