Dollar General on Victory Drive robbed at gunpoint
Columbus police said they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Sunday night at the Dollar General at 3649 Victory Drive.
The cashier was held at gunpoint, but no one was harmed in the 8:51 a.m. incident, according to a police report.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:51 a.m. and spoke to witnesses on the scene.
The store cashier told police that he was walking toward the front checkout counter when an armed 6-foot tall black man dressed in all black with a black bandana covering his face approached him. The suspect, who appeared to weigh about 185 pounds, pointed a black handgun at him and demanded the money locked in the business’ safe, according to the report.
The cashier said he was collecting approximately $3,300 from the two registers and safe when he noticed a 5-foot-9-inch black man who appeared to weigh about 165 pounds holding the front door open. When the gunman retrieved the money, both men fled out the front door and headed northwest toward the Wendy’s at 3639 Victory Drive, the employee said.
Authorities seized store surveillance of the northwest parking lot that shows both suspects leaving the store. Responding officers made a radio broadcast for the armed robbery suspects and the dark four-door vehicle they were seen leaving in following the incident.
The report indicates that no possible suspects have been identified.
