Police: Man, woman break into eight vehicles outside of businesses
Opelika police are trying to identify the man and woman suspected of the eight vehicle break-ins that occurred Monday outside of four area businesses.
Authorities said the incidents happened between 5:30 and 10 p.m. at the Planet Fitness at 2500 Pepperell Parkway, the Outback Steakhouse at 2115 Pepperell Parkway, the Longhorn Steakhouse at 2601 Gateway Drive and the Shoe Station at 2710 Enterprise Drive.
Only one vehicle was targeted at each of the Opelika businesses aside from the Planet Fitness where there were five, Opelika Police Capt. Shane Healey said in a press release.
Healey said each establishment was open with customers inside when the two unidentified thieves broke the windows of all eight vehicles and stole several loose items, including firearms, cell phones and purses.
The suspects were described as a white blonde-headed woman and a tall, thin black man who may be seen traveling in a maroon 1998 Buick Regal with an Alabama license plate.
Anyone with any information concerning the break-ins is encouraged to call the Opelika Police Department Investigative Services Division at 334-705-5220 or the Secret Witness Hotline at 334-745-8665.
