Man, 23, arrested after high-speed chase through Opelika

A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly leading authorities into a high-speed chase through Opeilka, according to a press release from the Opelika Police Department.

Authorities said Keishawn Mandreuntae Webb of Lee County was wanted on an attempted murder warrant issued in Macon County when he tried to drive away from police with two passengers inside the vehicle. Those individuals have not been located or identified, officials stated.

Webb of Lee County was taken into custody following the incident and charged with attempted murder in addition to eight charges issued in Opelika. He may be faced with even more charges in Macon County, Capt. Shane Healey noted.

Authorities said Webb was booked into the Lee County Jail but will be transferred to Macon County if he post bonds on his Opelika charges, which include first-degree receiving stolen property, fourth-degree receiving stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing or attempt to elude law enforcement, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment, driving while license suspended and following too close.
