Rescue officials rescue male rafter from Chattahoochee River
A male was rescued from an island behind the Synovus building along the Chattahoochee Riverwalk Saturday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Keith Watson of the Columbus Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services said the male was conscious when rescue personnel reached him. He was taken to Midtown Medical Center for treatment but his condition wasn’t available.
The male was thrown from a raft or a kayak while on the river. Rescue personnel were assisted by Whitewater Express employees during the call to help the rafter.
Fire officials were called to the river to check on a possible drowning victim in the water.
