Teenage girl reports being raped Saturday during date

A teenage girl was on a date Saturday night when she was raped in a residence less than a mile away from Garrett Road, according to a Columbus police report.

Transported to St. Francis Hospital following the incident, the victim named an 18-year-old man as her attacker. It’s unclear at this time if warrants have been issued, but the report indicates that no arrests have been made.

According to authorities, the girl and suspected assailant went on their first date around 4 p.m. Saturday at a public location in Columbus. The man’s mother then drove them to his home near Garrett Road, police said.

The victim said she and the 18-year-old man were kissing upstairs when he began “touching her inappropriately.” She said she told him to stop but he called her a “chicken” and “coward” for not wanting to have sex with him, according to the police.

He also called her derogatory names, she reported. She said she told him “no,” but he continued. He then forced himself on top of her and raped her in the bedroom between 7:30 and 8 p.m., according to her account.

She said he continued to call her derogatory names after the sexual assault.

The Columbus Police Department’s Special Victims Unit continue to investigate the reported rape.
