Car hijacked at Columbus apartment crashes into Corner Store
An unidentified driver fled the scene Monday morning after crashing a stolen vehicle into the Corner Store at 2410 15th Ave., according to Columbus police.
Officials said it’s unclear at this time if there were any injuries. The stolen 2001 Dodge Stratus valued at $5,000 and the building were left with a substantial amount of damage, according to a police report.
Officers arrived at the scene at 9:05 a.m. but were unable to locate the individual who allegedly crashed the front of the car into the store, causing $5,000 worth of damage to the west side of the business owned by Southeastern Enterprises.
Authorities said they were on the scene investigating when 9-1-1 dispatch informed them that the car owner reported the vehicle stolen. She said it was hijacked from her son around 9 a.m. that morning at Columbus Sky Apartments at 1410 Talbotton Road.
No further information concerning the incident was released.
