Rape attempt reported near South Lumpkin Road

A woman told Columbus police late Wednesday that someone attempted to rape her in a residence less than a mile away from South Lumpkin Road, according to a police report.

Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the incident, which was reported to have happened between 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. In the report, police did not list any possible suspects or indicate whether or not the woman knows her attacker.

Officials continue to investigate what the incident, which they described as criminal attempt to commit strong-arm rape.
