Two gunmen rob Hampton Inn on Whitesville Road

Two masked gunmen robbed the Hampton Inn on Whitesville Road Friday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Columbus police said.

No one was injured in the 11:25 p.m. holdup at 5585 Whitesville Road.

An employee was outside smoking when two men approached him. Armed with handguns, police said one forced the employee back inside the hotel while the second watched the door.

One grabbed the cash from the register before they both fled on foot from the hotel.

Both robbers were described as black. One was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, light-skinned and weighed 130 to 140 pounds. He wore a red hooded sweatshirt, multi-colored bandana covering his face and latex gloves.

The second robber was 5 feet 11 inches tall, light-skinned and weighed about 230 pounds. He wore a black bandana over his face and some mechanic gloves.
